TREASURED
Psalm 139:13
“For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.”
I think sometimes we can take a scripture for granted…like when our children begin to tune out our voices after we begin to nag…
For most of us, this passage is at least familiar to us, if not within our repertoire of memorized sections, having been quoted numerous times to encourage us into loving ourselves and His design.
But, if you read verse 13 in the King James Version, it says this:
“For thou hast possessed my reins: …”
That definitely gave me pause. What does that even mean?
According to Hebrew culture, they believed that the “reins,” which are the kidneys, were the “seat of our longings and desires.” And the word “possessed” deals with a transactional relationship…meaning our longings and desires – the very core of who we are – once we have entered into covenant with Jesus through salvation, was purchased by Him, as you would buy a piece of land or property.
From the innermost desires of your heart to the most secretive of thoughts, He has access to them…He knows them so well! Maybe you feel like the dreams are too grand, too visionary, too impossible…
He has purchased your dreams…
Or maybe you feel that the thoughts you have had are too dark, too shameful, too debilitating…
He has purchased your imaginations…
He is so familiar with you – every part of you – just as you are familiar with the lovely view from your favorite window or the stain on your sofa that you cover with a throw pillow…
Nothing is a surprise to Him. He has purchased your dreams, and He intends to make them come true; just as He has purchased your pain, with the intent to set you free.
“…thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”
He covered you…like a priceless treasure…before anyone even knew who you were!
You are TREASURED by the Lord, Sweet Daughters, and He is the Giver of your Dreams and the Rescuer of your Soul.
THINK ABOUT IT
The enemy likes to take a “snapshot” of our present and hold it up to us as a predictor of our future. In a time when he is trying to tell you to lay aside your hopes and focus on the fear, what would God have you begin to dream? What precious seeds can you plant during this time of uncertainty that will bring forth a harvest of abundance in the future?
ACTION STEP
Start dreaming with God today. Begin to talk to Him about what He sees for you in 6 months, and ask Him what beauty you can plant TODAY that you will see produce fruit in the future. Resist the urge to accept your current condition… He meant you for more, that’s what He paid for, and He never meant for you to settle for anything less.
