Family Time
January Memory Verse- Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Week 1- The Word Became Flesh and Dwelt Among Us!
Read John 1:14 as a family.
-God gave the authority to rule the earth to man (flesh) in the garden of Eden.
-Man (Adam & Eve) gave the authority over to the serpent (devil).
-So, a man had to come and take it back. Jesus the Son of Man took the authority back.
3. What authority did Jesus take back? -The power to overcome sin and the ability to be in relationship with the Father. Relationship had been broken in the garden and Jesus restored us to have freedom from sin and know The Father.
4. We have the Holy Spirit that helps remind us who we are and what Jesus has set us free from.
Week 2-Why did it take Jesus 4,000 years to come?
There were more than 50 prophecies about Jesus birth that had to come to pass before Jesus would be born.
-Like He will come from the line of David
-He will be born in Bethlehem
2. Prophecy-A miracle of knowledge, a declaration or description of something future, beyond the power of humanity to foresee.
3. Read Revelation 19:10
This verse means what Jesus has done for us He can do for other people. Our story of what Jesus has done for us is prophetic.
Parents, take some time to share some miracles your family has seen: When you were saved, things God has done that could be explained in no other except that it was Him, healings, financial breakthroughs…
Week 3- Why did Jesus have to be born a baby?
Read together Genesis 1:28.
It was a command to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. God had given the earth over to Adam and Eve. There would never again be a person created that wasn’t born a baby.
Week 4- New Beginnings
January is the beginning of a brand-new year. New is good, exciting, fun and can be scary. New beginnings are all through the Bible.
Read together Revelation 21:5.
Jesus makes all things new and that is a good thing. It is especially good when life has been hard. When it has been a hard year, and you need a new start.
Read Lamentations 3:22-23. God’s mercies are new every morning. Thank Him today for a new day and that you don’t have to worry about tomorrow.
It is so easy to be distracted and busy with things that don’t matter or that aren’t as important as loving and noticing people. Being in God’s presence, worshipping Him, hearing what He is saying and what He is calling me to do is the most important place to be.
