March 29-April 4
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
THREE IMPOSSIBLE COMMANDS
Wouldn’t it make more sense for Paul to say: Rejoice A lot
Try To Be Thankful
Paul says that this is God’s will for us. How in the world do we do this?
Day 1- Rejoice Always
Does this mean I always have to be happy? Was Jesus always happy?
Day 2- Rejoicing Is An Attitude
-We either focus on what was done to us and feel sorry for ourselves, get bitter and shut down…
-We set our minds on Jesus and how much He loves us. We let Him comfort us and make us feel better.
Thank God that even when things aren’t fun or fair we have so much to praise Him for. If you need to repent for a bad attitude, then do it. Thank the Spirit for guiding you to truth and a good attitude.
Day 3- Read Acts 16:25-31
Paul isn’t commanding us to do something that he doesn’t know about.

Paul was innocent. He got in all of this trouble just for preaching about Jesus.
God, I want to focus on You and how good You are, rather than something bad that is happening in the world or something that has happened to me.
Day 4- Pray Without Ceasing
Does this mean we need to be praying every moment that we are awake?
“Without ceasing” is actually a military term. An army would attack a city but not succeed. They would regroup and attack over and over until they defeated their enemy.
What are some things you wouldn’t have if it weren’t for God?
God, we want to hear You and not give up in prayer when things don’t happen like we think they should. Thank You for speaking to us. We want to hear Your voice over every other voice.
Day 5- Give Thanks In Everything
Does this mean we are supposed to thank you God for this virus? No!
We are thankful to God that He is bigger than any sickness or disease. This doesn’t always mean the disease goes away but God never goes away. We don’t have to feel thankful to give thanks!
Giving thanks in everything will not prevent bad things from happening, but it will help us to see the good.
Pray Romans 8:28 back to God.
Day 6- We Are Not Victims
Victim- A person who is harmed, hurt, betrayed…one who has suffered.
Have you ever been harmed, hurt, betrayed or suffered from something? We have all been victimized in one way or another.
Pastor Jason has taught us that we are not the way we are because of what has happened to us. We are the way we are because of how we handled whatever happened.
-Am I self-centered? Do I feel sorry for myself a lot? Do I get my feelings hurt easy?
-Do I always focus on what happened to me?
-Do I have a hard time forgiving?
-Am I critical, judgmental and tend to complain often?
-Am I full of excuses for why it is not my fault?
Read Matthew 7:1-5
God I choose to take responsibility for what I say, think and feel. Help me to catch myself before I blame, complain and take things too personal. Thank you for giving me joy. I choose to walk in joy, forgiveness and work harder to see the best in people.
Day 7- 3 Very Important Decisions We Need To Make Like Joseph
Joseph knew he wasn’t abandoned but he was left and sold.
Joseph knew He wasn’t a criminal but he had been accused and put in jail.
Joseph knew who he didn’t want to be and it was grace for him to be who he was supposed to be.
Thank you for grace! Thank you for the power to overcome whatever the enemy brings against us.
Pray Isaiah 54:17 over yourself and your home.
This is a great time to talk to your child about the Shoes of Peace and the Armor of God. The story of Joseph and his brothers reminds us how power-filled we are and how courageous we can be when we wear the full armor of God.
