Our focus determines our thoughts which determines our feelings. – Pastor Jason
This week we are going to really think about what we spend most of our time thinking about.
“Since we have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. “Colossians 3:1-2
Did you know God wants you to tell Him how you feel? Is this because He doesn’t already know? No. We know that God knows all things. He wants you to tell Him so He can tell you the truth.
Thank you, God for the Holy Spirit who speaks to me. I want to hear, believe and change the way I think.
A lot of times what we are feeling isn’t the truth. How can we find out if it is the truth or not?
Because you have hidden God’s word in your heart you know the truth is in Deuteronomy 31:6.
God you make me strong, courageous and you never leave. I know I will never be alone, even if I feel like it.
Pastor Jason told us last week that our feelings stem from our thoughts. Can we control everything that we think? The answer to that is found in 2 Corinthians 10:3-6.
-How do we fight them?
I pray for help to see where I am thinking wrong before it turns into a stronghold. I will fight wrong thoughts with the truth, and it will change the way I see myself, God & others.
Read John 14:26-27
What will He remind us of? ________________________.
What did Jesus say He leaves with us? _______________________________________________.
Thank you, Jesus for your peace. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that will teach us everything. I will choose to not let my heart be troubled and I will not be afraid.
Read Acts 19:2-7
We read over and over in the New Testament about being full of the Holy Spirit. We receive the Spirit when we receive Jesus, because God, Jesus and the Spirit are one. We do receive a different baptism of the Spirit, and need to be filled every day.
Acts 13:52 And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
Jesus, I want to walk in power, love, joy and self-control. I pray you would baptize me in the Holy Spirit. I want everything the Spirit has to offer me. I want to see miracles, speak in tongues and be full of faith. Thank you for my advocate, the Holy Spirit.
Read Luke 1:41
We pray the Spirit will fill our home today. Jesus send Your Spirit to cover every room. We want to clean house of every thought, feeling and lie that doesn’t belong.
Take turns sharing what you need strength from the Spirit for. Pray for each other.
Here are some activities you can do with your children this week:
If you see sad, angry, or discouraged feelings on another family members feelings chart find a way to help them. You could do a chore for them, leave them a sweet note, or encourage them. Remember that even if you are feeling this way as way serving others can cause a change of heart.
